“Everyone has inside them a piece of good news.
The good news is you don’t know how great you can be!
How much you can love! What you can accomplish!
And what your potential is.”
– Anne Frank
I have never met anyone who doesn’t appreciate encouragement – even what you consider to be motivated, strong leaders.
The remarkable thing about it is that it only takes a tiny piece or encouragement to activate or fuel the fire within someone.
I remember in my mid-20’s sitting in front of a counsellor, mentally and emotionally crushed. My spirits were at their lowest and I didn’t see a way forward. I felt hopeless.
Then he said something that changed everything.
“I know you can turn this around.”
I’m not sure I fully believed him at the time but all I know is that his words made a difference. And a part of me, deep inside, was listening.
And through persistence, pain and work I was gradually able to turn my situation around.
I have been fortunate enough to be able to pass on the same encouragement to others and have seen remarkable results happen from just a little encouragement.
To have someone look at you and say “I know you can do this” is so simple you might think it’s worthless.
But the right words said in the right way, at the right time can ignite a fire that can create real and lasting magic, whether it be in business, life or any field.
Maybe that’s one reason why you hear stories from successful people of someone in their life that believed in them. A teacher, a parent, a coach, a business owner, a manager.
Someone around you is in need of encouragement.
Your words matter.
How can you spend them this week?
