This email is very different to the ones I usually send out and doesn’t happen often. But I thought I’d make you aware of something I’m involved in that may be of interest.
I’m in Chicago in September with a philanthropic initiative called The Oneness Project, which is holding a gala dinner at the Drake hotel in Chicago on September 20th.
The initiative is to raise funds for one of the oldest schools in Dublin – The O’Connell’s Schools and GAA (Gaelic Sports) Club in Dublin, an inner city safe haven for kids. I’ve done some work with club around the inner game of sport and really admire their approach to serving the community.
The intention of this initiative is to raise money to buy the grounds around the club to secure its future for generations to come, and a portion of the funds will also go to the Primary and Secondary schools
On the 19th September there is a business networking lunch along with a ‘Dragon’s Den/Shark Tank’ type entrepreneurial competition for start-ups, which is being supported by Ernst & Young.
Other businesses, including Google and Accenture are involved also. The Mayor of Chicago and the Lord Mayor of Dublin are attending the gala dinner, which has former Irish Prime Minister, Enda Kenny, as the keynote speaker.
The event is turning into something special which is why I’m making you aware of it – just in case it resonates. Other events are being added including a visit to Notre Dame University business school which will also add value to anyone who attends at that time.
This will be a high profile event that has already attracted media attention and my expectation is that some great connections will be made over the few days. It may not be of any interest but I thought I’d flag to you just in case. (Feel free to share with anyone in your own network in the US or Ireland)
