Golden Woman
esterday, the US Woman’s football team,
won the World Cup in Vancouver.
They beat the previous champions, Japan, 5-2 in
a very convincing manner.
One woman in particular led from the front.
The captain Carli Lloyd scored a hat-trick, the first-ever in a final.
And all in the first 16 minutes!
She also won the Golden Ball for best player of the tournament.
It was sweet revenge for the US team who had previously
lost the 2011 final to Japan, 3-1 in a penalty shoot out.
What’s interesting is that when they lost that final
Carli Lloyd was one of the women who missed her penalty.
She was crushed emotionally by the defeat.
