“Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine and at last you create what you will.”
– George Bernard Shaw
As I’m the father to a 6 and 4 year old, I find myself seeing plenty of animation movies (not that I really need an excuse). In the new Lego Movie, there are characters that are called ‘Master Builders’. These characters have a special ability to make the most remarkable things from whatever is in front of them. Or you could say to to create something from existing resources. Need a plane? Let me just use my special skills to use what’s in this lego room to give you just that…
Without giving too much away, it turns out in the movie, that everyone has the ability to be a Master Builder – they just need to believe it and then start doing.
Now before you think I’ve finally lost it, consider this. Maybe you and I are also Master Builders – creatures of immense creative ability. We can literally sculpt our lives, our careers and our organisations through the power of our imagination + will.
Like the central character in the Lego Movie, if you believe you have the ability to create, maybe you can start making serious changes all around you – with existing resources…
So, what 1 thing can you put your amazing creative ability on this week, Master Builder?
Food for thought.
PS – By the way, it doesn’t matter if your 5 or 50, the Lego Movie scores 10/10 in my book. If you don’t have young kids, borrow one for 2 hours to give you a reason to see it. 🙂
