“More than anything else,

what differentiates people who live up to their potential from those who don’t,

is a willingness to look at themselves and others objectively”

– Ray D’Alio, Founder of Bridgewater Associates, one of the world’s largest hedge funds.

What are the biggest barriers to growing a business?

In my experience there are five key ones.

– Lack of effective leadership

– Lack of the right skills

– Lack of scalable infrastructure

– Lack of adapting to market pressures

– Lack of belief and alignment in the vision or having no vision

What are the biggest barriers to growing as a person?

In my experience there are five key ones also.

– Lack of personal accountability

– Lack of learning what’s needed next

– Lack of communication ability

– Lack of being able to manage and handle stress

– Lack of trusting/belief in yourself

In many ways, each one on the person list mirrors the business list.

So by that logic, if we can affect the person, the business will grow.

Food for thought.

Here are a few events and training happening in Quarter 2 that should be of interest.

It includes getting more clarity, getting better balance and productivity and perhaps meeting an entrepreneur from Dragon’s Den.

  1. Get Better Clarity

Probably the biggest issue I’m hearing for people is the lack of real clarity in life and work, and also the relentless mental noise. The Clarity Program is a new evening program running over 6 weeks in Dublin. It will be a breakthrough experience for anyone who participates. The only one I’ll be running this year. If it resonates in any way, I’d advise jumping in.

  1. Better Effectiveness In Work And A Better Life

My unique training TimeShift runs again in early May. Get a major positive hit on your focus, productivity and life balance. Details and booking here.

  1. Dinner For Ladies Who Don’t Lunch

My annual shindig for women who don’t mind going to a dinner hosted by a man. Last year we had over 50 like-minded business women make priceless connections for life – and had a lot of fun in the process. All I’ll say is that it’s not like any normal dinner. Tickets are available now.

This year Irish Dragon entrepreneur, Alison Cowzer, will be be adding to the inspiration by doing a Q&A on her career and life. There are limited seats and it’s first come first served.

The venue is the new award-winning Saba Baggot Street. The date is Wednesday 24th May. Booking here.
