“Start before you’re ready. Don’t prepare, begin.”

– Mel Robbins

A new Mission: Impossible just hit cinemas—and as always, the real story isn’t just action, it’s mindset.

At the heart of the story is the Impossible Mission Force (IMF)—a top-secret espionage agency that handles high-stakes missions deemed “impossible” by conventional intelligence agencies.

In every film, the team starts with a plan. And in every film, that plan falls apart.

Unexpected obstacles. New threats. Changing circumstances.

But what always stands out is not the chaos—it’s the response. The team doesn’t panic. They don’t freeze. They adapt. Fast.

It’s thrilling on screen, but it’s also a reminder of something powerful off-screen.

In the latest movie, there’s a great moment where one of the team members is challenged by a sceptic who doubts their wild, unpredictable plan. I’m paraphrasing here, but the response is something along the lines of:

“We’ll just figure it out.”

That mindset only works because of one thing:

The team is all in.

Fully committed. Relentless. Creative under pressure.

(Traits that, to me, are consistent with the essence of Presence.)

And Tom Cruise’s character, Ethan Hunt, is the embodiment of these traits.

But the movie made me wonder—how often do we face our own “impossible” and hold back?

I think what we admire in these films isn’t just the stunts or the spectacle. It’s the mindset. It’s calling to something inside each one of us.

The willingness to go all in. The courage to adapt. The belief that, even when the plan falls apart, you can still figure it out.

This week, a reflection:

Where in your life or work are you half in?

Maybe the path ahead isn’t clear. Maybe you’re in the midst of circumstances you don’t like.

But what might happen if you chose to go all in?

Take on your own Mission Impossible.

Best,

Shane
