As we leave the World Cup, I thought I’d give today’s quote

over to one of their heroes.

Here’s your shot of weekly inspiration:

“As I have said, the first thing is to be honest with yourself.

You can never have an impact on society if you have not changed yourself…

Great peacemakers are all people of integrity, of honesty, but humility.”

– Nelson Mandela

In my experience, most people find it difficult to be honest with

themselves.  So be wary of reading the above quote and thinking,

‘Yeah, I’m totally honest with myself, that doesn’t apply to me!”.

Your ego has a lot invested in being right, and very often

that means NOT being really honest with yourself.

Being honest could mean facing up to the REAL reasons around:

– Why you’re not happy…

– Why sales aren’t at the right level…

– Why some in your team aren’t pulling their weight…

– Why YOU’RE not pulling your weight…

– Why you can’t get into the shape you want…

– Why you don’t have more energy…

I remember sitting with a top CEO and asking how much enjoyment

he had in his life?  It was only when he really acknowledged that he had none,

that he could really move forward.

Lack of enjoyment was the symptom of a bigger problem.

He hated what he worked at.

4 years later and he’s changed profession and has a ‘very enjoyable business & life’.

But none of this change would have happened if he hadn’t been

really honest with himself.

So, this week, think about any area of your life where you’re not 100%

satisfied and be honest with yourself in assessing it.

– Where are you really at with it?

– What’s your responsibility in it?

– What 1 thing can you do about it now?

Food for thought…

Have a great week,

Best Regards,

Shane
