Creating a compelling vision is a key element of being an effective leader. And then sharing that vision in vivid, exciting pictures is essential to engaging people to really want to help you create it.
But it’s all for nothing if people don’t buy into you as a leader.

You may have a great idea, exciting products & services and the most compelling vision. It’s all for nothing if you don’t have a leader that people buy into.
If you are the leader, it requires the hard work of looking at yourself in the mirror and digging deep into what you’re really like – not what you tell yourself you’re like.
Track record, competence, communication, trustworthiness, integrity, skill, charisma, honesty, work ethic, impact… to name a few of the essential traits of being a leader who inspires.
In my experience the core trait of the best leaders is that they really care.
First and foremost they care intrinsically for the cause, culture and vision of the organisation and the people who are on board.
But no-one person is greater than that group and the best leader will always do the difficult act of ‘cutting off a leg to save a life.’ The average leader will leave the leg alone, not realising that they’re killing their credibility as a leader in the long run.
Inspiring leadership is tough. It requires doing the things that no-one else wants to. What you may not realise is that when you do those tough things, people are buying into you more and more as their leader. And that drives the action towards your vision.
