Here’s your shot of inspiration:

“Champions aren’t made in the gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them – a desire, a dream, a vision.”

Muhammad Ali Most people get so caught up in the day to day tasks of life and business that they lose sight of the bigger picture (that’s if they ever had one) They get lost in the never ending list of ‘To-Do’s’, problems and activities just waiting for their attention.

Muhammad Ali gives us a clue here as to what separated him from the pack. He didn’t just box and train hard only because he loved it. No.  He was motivated by his vision of the future.  He could see what he wanted to create, the benefits he would achieve by becoming world champion and the change he could affect in the world.   Arnold Szhwarenegger is on record as saying something similar.  He was so clear on where he was going that it became a ‘pleasure to endure pain in the gym’.

When you have an exciting vision, it drives you out of bed in the morning.  It keeps you going when a ‘dull’ day arrives.  It literally gives you energy, even when your physical body is tired. Spend time regularly stoking the flames of your dreams/big picture.    All of the people you know of, who have achieved something significant, all of them have had or have an inspiring dream.   But they kept their eyes firmly on it. I read somewhere recently that 1 hour taken out to look at the ‘strategic view’ of your life or business would save about 10 hours of reactive time. In my experience it’s at least that…

What’s your big picture/vision/dream/big goal/dream?   Consider taking time out to give it some time, thought and improve your clarity on it.      Regardless of your position, age or situation I believe we all need to have ‘desires, dreams and visions’ to focus on.  & the key is to do it regularly.

Food for thought…

Have a great week,

Shane
