“You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.”
– C.S. Lewis
I haven’t looked inside my book, The Inner CEO, since it was published back in October 2023. Maybe it’s because I spent 5 years creating it, that on some level I ‘needed a break’… 🙂
Until yesterday.
I’m working on an exciting new project (more on that to come) which required me to revisit the book. That’s when I stumbled across one of my all-time favourite maxims:
“Don’t make where you are, wrong.”
Only six words. But they pack a profound punch of wisdom for me. And I was reminded that it’s so easy to fall into a common mental trap.
Making your current reality a problem.
It’s so easy to slip into frustration, self-judgment, or regret when we look at where we are—especially when we compare it to where we think we should be.
We mentally label our current situation as “wrong” or “not good enough,” and in doing so, we unintentionally drain the very energy we need to move forward.
But what if you could meet yourself exactly where you are?
Not as a failure. Not as a shortfall. But simply as where you are right now.
When we stop resisting the present moment, we regain access to clarity, creativity, and momentum. We stop spinning stories of lack, of unhappiness and start opening to something much better.
Possibility.
In your business.
In your finances.
In your relationships.
In your purpose.
In your happiness.
In your clarity.
So this week, a reflection:
Where in your life are you making where you are “wrong”?
And what might shift if you paused, accepted your reality fully, and moved forward from there?
Best,
Shane
