The Difference Between Being Clever And Being Wise

It’s perhaps what I am most fascinated with as a person.

Can you be in a situation and change nothing other
than your mindset or attitude, and as a result change
everything for the better?

My experience tells me that this is indeed the case,
both with businesses and people.

And yet it’s so easy to do the opposite.

‘You don’t understand Shane…

– my boss is the problem
– the market is the problem
– my lack of vision is the problem
– my team are the problem
– My son/daughter/wife/husband is the problem
– my city/country is the problem

“I need to change these first, then I’ll be happy.”

It’s not to say that these aren’t real problems but if everything else
is the problem, you can’t exert much control or influence over it.
Plus mentally stewing on the problems is usually energy depleting.

And what’s fascinating about changing your mindset is that:

  1. It can be quite easy to do once you’re aware it exists…and
  2. Once it changes for the better, the outside world usually changes with it.
A starting point can be just to ask yourself this question:
‘What is my mindset towards this situation?’

And look to whether the answer is optimistic or pessimistic.

Food for thought.
