“Your present circumstances don’t determine where you can go;

they merely determine where you start.”

– Nido Qubein

In my book, The Inner CEO, I delve into the profound impact your inner voice has on every facet of your world — your career, business, relationships, health, and overall peace of mind. Loosening its grip on your inner world opens the door to an intriguing possibility:

The ability to rewrite your future.

Life unfolds like a story, and sometimes, we find ourselves entrenched in a chapter that no longer aligns with our true desires and sense of self. This is when the notion of rewriting our future transforms from merely appealing to absolutely necessary.

As December unfolds, I find it to be an opportune time to sow seeds for introspection, to start the process of an inner hygiene chck that includes examining the inner narrative that shapes my life and relationships. Here are some questions I will be pondering over the course of this month:

  • What story are you currently telling yourself?
  • Which aspects of this narrative no longer serve your highest aspirations?
  • Where is the weight of the past hindering the creation of a potentially brighter future?

Identifying what the inner narrator is saying is the initial step toward rewriting the story within. I realised long ago that I’m not merely an observer in the creation of my story but an active participant.

Taking hold of the pen of change empowers you to rewrite your future.

My challenge to you this week is to make a little time to reflect on the chapters you wish to rewrite, the changes you’re willing to embrace, and the person you’re keen on evolving into over the coming time.

Here’s to the art of rewriting and the boundless possibilities it brings.

Best,

Shane
