“Too many people are judgemental.

I can tell just by looking at them.”

Last week, I had the wonderful opportunity to explore a part of Dublin City that was entirely new to me – a placed called Stoneybatter. A client I met for lunch took it upon themselves to guide me through this area, emphasising its safety amidst recent negative publicity about Dublin.

What struck me profoundly was the richness of layers within this part of the city – a blend of history, vibrancy, village-like charm, diversity, creativity, and hubs of learning and business. I was really taken with the area and the experience sparked a thought:

Can we apply the same principle to the people around us?

It’s easy to fall into the trap of assuming we know someone fully, especially if we’ve spent years working with them or sharing personal experiences. Imagine the difference if we approached those in our lives with fresh, unprejudiced eyes?

And then, taking it a step further, what if we extended this perspective to ourselves? What layers of fascination and potential do we hold? This, to me, is the fascinating journey of unveiling our own capabilities, our own richness within.

What began as a pleasant and captivating tour of one part of Dublin became a gift of remembrance for me – a reminder to resist the urge to judge hastily and to keep the flame of curiosity alive when exploring the depths of those around me, and also of myself.

There is more to us all than meets the eye – much more.

Here’s to approaching life’s familiar and unfamiliar aspects with renewed wonder.

Where can you apply this idea this week?

Best,

Shane
